To me they don't mean the same thing, but they're listed as synonyms. Although no two words mean exactly the same thing.
I've been thinking about it a lot lately. How much of your life is coincidence? Fate? Predestination?
Starting college in the summer term rather than the fall. Living with Mary. Deciding to go to Jerusalem the specific semester that I did. Meeting certain people at a certain time in my life. Moving to the Elms. Hearing about Emerson. Finding the best job. Making good, dependable friends. Finding the best house.
I don't really believe in coincidences, but I don't think everything is predestination either.
I like kismet best.
I think it's the Lord watching over you and sprinkling your life with whatever blessings you need at the time. :)
