Curiouser and Curiouser

A little over a year ago I received a package in the mail. I was puzzled by this package, not remembering that I ordered anything, and when I opened it I discovered some sheet music that I had been wanting for years. For about twenty seconds I wondered if I'd ordered it and totally forgotten, but that was not true; it was actually a gift. A gift from a boy, and I never could tell if he was interested in me. For over a year. It was a very confusing situation. But he sent me sheet music, and it was one of the kindest things anyone had done for me.

This afternoon I went to get the mail and found a package from Amazon. For me. I thought I had received all my books for the semester, but there was an off chance I didn't. I opened it and found Omeros by Derek Walcott. That is definitely not on my reading list, I double checked. I was very confused. Usually when Michael sends things he tells me first, or at least includes a note with an invoice (there was no invoice). And I don't think I have any friends who are boys who would send me a book of poetry that I've never heard of. But maybe I do?

Nope. I don't. Turns out I accidentally ordered it myself; I double checked my Amazon emails from the last few weeks. Apparently I paid $3 for it. I have no memory of this, and no reason to have ordered it. I'm a little (a lot) confused. I guess I'll read it anyway?

  2. Jamie, I don't think you've met. But I'm pretty sure I told you the story when it happened. We still had regular girls nights then.
